For Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass things only continue to look worse as the film's three-day estimate dropped from $18.1 million yesterday to $26.9 million today with the studio now anticipating a $34.1 million four-day weekend, well off the $60 million tracking the film was targeting heading into the weekend.

Saturday AM Update: Memorial Day weekend's two new wide releases got off to soft starts with X-Men: Apocalypse leading the way with an estimated $26.4 million on Friday, targeting an $80+ million four-day holiday weekend. Despite virtually matching its predecessor, X-Men: Days of Future Past, when it comes to Thursday night previews (see Friday AM update below), the follow-up brought in $9 million less on Friday.

'Angry Birds' #1 Domestically, 'Captain America' Tops $1 Billion and It's 'Apocalypse' Overseas

Sony's The Angry Birds Movie took the number one spot at the domestic box office this weekend, pushing two-time champion, Captain America: Civil War, to second place as it begins its third week in release. Civil War's weekend, however, wasn't only about the domestic box office as it has now become the first 2016 release to cross $1 billion worldwide, doing so in just 24 days of global release. The weekend's two other new wide releases, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and The Nice Guys, finished in third and fourth position respectively. Also, X-Men: Apocalypse launched overseas one week ahead of its domestic debut and hauled in over $100 million.

Disney Makes History, Topping $1 Billion in Domestic Ticket Sales in Just 128 Days

Universal Pictures had a record year in 2015 with domestic ticket sales topping $2.44 billion on the heels of such successes as Jurassic World ($652M), Furious 7 ($353M) and Minions ($336M). In the process it became the fastest studio to cross $1 billion, doing so in just 165 days. It was a nine day improvement on the previous record set by Paramount in 2008 and, as it turns out, less than a year later it's a record that served as hardly a speed bump.

'Captain America: Civil War' Opens with $179.1 Million; Global Cume Climbs Over $670M

Captain America: Civil War scorched the weekend box office, bringing in the fifth largest opening weekend of all-time. The massive debut contributed to Disney bringing in over $200 million this weekend as the studio became the fastest to cross the $1 billion mark in domestic earnings in just 128 days, decimating the 165 day record set by Universal just last year. And while Disney was setting records, the weekend also saw a stellar comeback for Open Road's Mother's Day as it took advantage of its holiday namesake.

Updated: 'Captain America: Civil War' Hauls in Estimated $75.2M On Friday

Saturday AM Update: Friday estimates are in and Captain America: Civil War's chances of becoming the fourth $200+ million opener have been dashed. With an estimated $75.2 million (including $25 million from Thursday night previews), the thirteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is looking at a weekend around $175 million with an outside chance of finishing around $190 million if it follows the same weekend performance as Jurassic World, the first Avengers or even Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The fact all three of those films brought in less money on Thursday night, however, means it's less likely it will follow their weekend path.

'Jungle Book' Dominates Domestically While 'Captain America: Civil War' Explodes in Overseas Opening

It's another weekend on top for Disney's The Jungle Book as the live-action family feature dropped only 31% and made $20 million more than all three newcomers combined. As for said new releases, the kidnapped cat comedy Keanu led the pack over Mother's Day and Ratchet & Clank, though not a single one of them topped $10 million. Meanwhile, Captain America: Civil War led the charge overseas, bringing in a top 15, all-time international opening, though falling just shy of Avengers: Age of Ultron's number from last year.

Update: 'Jungle Book' #1 Over Newcomers; 'Captain America: Civil War' Up To $84M Internationally

Saturday AM Update #2: A big focus this weekend is also on Captain America: Civil War, which opened yesterday in an additional 8 international markets to take the total number opened to date to 38 territories. The film continues to place at #1 in all markets as its three-day total is now $84 million, tracking on par with Avengers: Age of Ultron in the same suite of markets.

'Jungle Book' Repeats, 'Huntsman' Falls On His Axe and 'Zootopia' Tops $900M Worldwide

The Jungle Book remained in first place in its second weekend by a large margin over the weekend runner up as it tripled the opening weekend for Universal's The Huntsman: Winter's War. 'Jungle Book' Opens with Massive $103 Million, Global Cume Tops $290M

Disney's The Jungle Book delivers the third $100+ million opener of 2016, two more than 2015 had at this point in the year and Captain America: Civil War is just around the corner. The weekend's two other new wide releases saw WB and MGM's Barbershop: The Next Cut finish second while Lionsgate's Criminal settled for a sixth place finish. Altogether, the weekend top twelve finished up 50.2% compared to last year and up 76.6% from last weekend.

Updated: 'Jungle Book' and 'Barbershop 3' Seek Strong Opening Weekends

Saturday AM Update: Friday estimates are in and The Jungle Book is roaring to life with an estimated $32.4 million opening day. Melissa McCarthy's 'The Boss' Narrowly Tops 'Batman v Superman' for Weekend #1

Melissa McCarthy's The Boss and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are in a tight race for the weekend number one with a mere $45,000 giving the edge to The Boss based on estimates. Also opening this weekend, STX's Hardcore Henry fell short of expectations while Fox Searchlight's Demolition was all-too-apt a name for the Jake Gyllenhaal starrer as it managed to barely creep over a $1 million opening.

Can Melissa McCarthy Show 'Batman v Superman' Who's 'The Boss'?

SATURDAY AM UPDATE: Melissa McCarthy's The Boss showed early signs of a solid weekend with $980,000 in Thursday night previews and that translated into a strong opening day, bringing in an estimated $8 million on Friday. As a result, Universal is projecting a neck-and-neck race for the #1 spot this weekend with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as both films are likely to finish with $21+ million with rival studios projecting The Boss will top Batman v Superman by as much as $2 million with a possible $23+ million three-day.

'Batman v Superman' Drops Big While Crossing $680 Million Worldwide

The steep second weekend drop suffered by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will receive the bulk of attention this week and rightfully so as it is the fourth largest second weekend drop for a film that opened over $100 million. That said, the superhero feature maintained the #1 position and has now crossed $680 million worldwide. Meanwhile, Disney's Zootopia continued its impressive run while the weekend's widest new release, God's Not Dead 2, fell well short of its predecessor.
