Can 'Avengers: Infinity War' Deliver a Record Opening Weekend?
SATURDAY AM UPDATE: With an estimated $105.9 million on Friday, Disney and Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War is currently looking at an opening weekend that could top $240 million, which would make it the second largest domestic debut all-time behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($247.9m). The film's Friday performance already ranks as the second largest opening day and single day of all-time, behind Force Awakens, and by end of day today it will hold the largest April opening ever before even counting Sunday's grosses. Infinity War scored an "A" CinemaScore from opening day audiences.
'A Quiet Place' Back at #1, While 'Super Troopers 2' Demolishes Expectations
Early on it looked as if it might be a tight race for the weekend #1, and while the margin was slim, in the end A Quiet Place settled into the spot, topping last weekend's champion Rampage. STX's I Feel Pretty settled into third over its debut weekend, delivering results a shade over expectations, narrowly topping the outstanding performance from Fox Searchlight's Super Troopers 2, which more than doubled expectations.

It was nearly an upset at the weekend box office, but Warner Bros. and New Line's Rampage was able to hold off a strong second weekend from Paramount's hit horror/thriller A Quiet Place to take the weekend's #1 spot. But that doesn't discount the fact A Quiet Place is less than $400k shy of topping $100 million domestically after just ten days in release. Additionally, Blumhouse's Truth or Dare delivered a solid, third place debut.

SATURDAY AM UPDATE: Warner Bros. and New Line's Rampage got things started with an estimated $11.5 million on Friday with current estimates anticipating a debut anywhere from $31-32 million for the three-day, which is likely to find the film debuting in second place. The film received an "A-" CinemaScore.
'Black Panther' Dominates Lackluster March at the Box Office
Following a record-breaking February, which saw the February domestic box office top $1 billion for the first time ever, March saw a -24% decline compared to 2017 with calendar grosses totaling $891 million. One thing didn't change in March, however, and that was the #1 film as Black Panther not only dominated the month of February, but was also responsible for nearly 25% of March's overall gross. In fact, thanks to Black Panther, even though March was such a down month, the first quarter of the year finished down just -2% compared to 2017's record $2.91 billion, with Black Panther accounting for almost 23% of the quarter's overall $2.85 billion in grosses. It's the second largest percentage behind March of 1998 when Titanic accounted for over 25% of the month's overall gross.
'A Quiet Place' Delivers Not So Quiet $50 Million Opening
With a $50 million debut, Paramount's A Quiet Place finished atop the weekend box office in impressive fashion and while Universal's Blockers didn't deliver even half of what A Quiet Place did, the film's $21 million debut was a solid start for the low budget R-rated comedy. The weekend also saw a very strong hold for Warner Bros.'s Ready Player One and Disney and Marvel's Black Panther topped Titanic this weekend to become the third highest grossing domestic release of all-time.

'Ready Player One' Tops Easter Weekend Box Office with $53M Four-Day Debut
Coming in on par with Mojo's pre-weekend forecast, Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One topped the weekend box office and delivered the director's largest opening weekend in ten years. 'Pacific Rim 2' Tops Weekend as 'Black Panther' Becomes Fifth Largest Domestic Release of All-Time
It had to happen at some point and this was the weekend that saw Black Panther's streak as the #1 film at the weekend box office come to an end at the hands of Pacific Rim Uprising. That being said, it wasn't a down weekend for Black Panther at all as it became the highest grossing superhero film of all-time, topping The Avengers with a domestic cume that now totals $630.9 million, becoming one of the top five domestic releases of all-time.
