The Duel in the Desert (1916)

Stingaree and Howie escape after a hot pistol battle with the inspectors only to be captured again while carelessly lolling at their ease at the spring. Crossing the desert Stingaree fakes a fall from his horse and feigns unconsciousness. While one of the inspectors goes off to the post with Howie, the other stands guard over Stingaree awaiting the return of a wagon in which to put the captive. Stingaree proves his gameness in the long wait under the blistering sun and in a moment of unwariness for the inspector he is captured. Later, by a clever ruse, Stingaree rescues Howie.
