Determined on revenge, the rival arranges with two greasers to waylay Joe, but Ethel, overhearing the plot, begs her lover to take care, but he, laughingly tries to disperse her fears and mounting his horse, rides off. Joe is held up by the ruffians, but just as all seems over, Ethel dashes up and covers the two Mexicans with her revolver. Returning to the ranch, sneering at Joe, Bob is rewarded with, a slashing upper cut. Facing the cowboys, Joe tells of the attempted murder. Bob stoutly denies any knowledge of the affair, but at that moment Ethel enters with the two Mexicans, who to save themselves, make a full confession. Seeing the game is up, the villain makes a desperate effort to escape, but after an exciting chase he is lassoed and strung up to the nearest tree.
