Drupadi (2008)
Drupadi is adapted from the ancient Indian epic Mahabharata. This movie depicts the story of Drupadi, the wife of five brothers known as the Pandawas. One fateful night, the Pandawa brothers are invited to a dice game against the Kurawa brothers. Sakuni, the Kurawas' uncle, had arranged the dice game, playing against Yudhistira, the eldest of the Pandawas. Yudhistira loses all his wealth, along with his kingdom. As a result, he gambles his brothers, himself, and finally Drupadi, into servitude. Struggling for her freedom, Drupadi repeatedly questions Yudhistira's right to place her at stake when he himself had lost his freedom. At the end, this movie is not just about Drupadi's story, as in the modern world, it also serves as a symbol of woman who believes in a just and equal world. All Releases
