The Joblot Recruits (1914)
The Essanay Film Manufacturing Company has advertised for recruits for the slap-stick comedy police department, and to qualify for the job, the applicants are required to go through many funny antics, such as falling downstairs, jumping out of windows and being peppered with eggs and pies. One recruit who refuses to be hit with eggs is told he cannot be used, and to avenge himself, floors the director with a huge mallet.
