In the Amazon Jungle (1915)

Silva, a young Spaniard, Linares and Arevalo, a Spanish half-breed, are interested in a rubber camp in South America. Silva is in love with Dolores, daughter of Arevalo. He tells her that his party is going further into the jungle than ever before to hunt for rubber. Linares, in drink, tells Arevalo that he wants his daughter when they return from the journey. In the midst of the jungle Silva is seized with fever and Linares deserts him. A jaguar attacks Linares. Silva, recovering from his illness, finds and ministers to Linares. Linares, conscience-stricken, says, "And in return for my treachery you saved my life."
