The Candle of Life (1911)
A wonderfully beautiful, artistic subject, showing a woman, disappointed in love, who retires to a convent. Standing before the altar of the Virgin she lights a candle, and as it burns she sees in the flame visions of the different stages of her life. When the candle has burned itself out she falls unconscious, and as the last flicker of the flame dies out the soul is seen to leave the body of the woman. This is a fascinating subject, depicted in most exquisite photography.
