Flowers in the Shadow (2008)
Deeply mired in debt, compulsive gambler Maya resorts to joining a scam ring to pay off his loans. While living in the gutters, he meets Hisako, a young woman tracing the story of her mother's past love with a comedian. In another parts of town, B-list idol Myako is on the verge of losing her job, but an opportunity suddenly appears that changes both her career and her relationship with otaku idol-chaser Yusuke. Meanwhile, power businessman Ryutaro is so inspired by his encounter with a homeless man that he too decides to begin a new life on the sidewalks. As a typhoon descends upon Tokyo, unrelated lives begin to cross over and a strange twist of fate befalls these quirky souls.
