The Grip Snatcher (1912)
Jimmie Phelan is loitering about the railroad station of a metropolitan city, ever on the watch for an easy "lift," when an old gentleman hustles by him. Jimmie watches his opportunity and soon makes away with the gentleman's handbag. In his room Jimmie finds that the handbag contains little of value. The next morning Jimmie learns that the handbag belongs to a wealthy physician just returned from Africa where he has obtained two glass tubes full of sleeping sickness germs for experimental purposes in the study of the disease. Jimmie hurries to the doctor's home and explains that be drank the germs. The doctor puts him to bed from which he is released a week later as cured. Jimmie promises that he will live a straight life. It is then that the doctor turns to his colleague, and tearing out the false bottom of the grip, brings out the tubes containing the germs with the explanation that Jimmie drank nothing more than two tubes filled with raw alcohol. All Releases
