The Mountain Climber's Dog (1913)
Clara, rich and pretty, receives a proposal of marriage from an adventurer, who seeks to acquire her wealth. Paul, the man she really cares for, intends to scale the Alpine heights the next day, accompanied by Oliver, an Alpine guide. The adventurer is rebuffed, and, being convinced that it is Paul who stands between him and his chances of success, goes to Oliver, and bribes him to push Paul over the precipice during the ascent of the mountain next day. The next day the ascent commences. Paul decides not to take Rover, his faithful dog- but Rover begs so prettily that at last he gains his end. Up in the mountain the guide pushes Paul over the cliff, and, leaving the cold and the wolves to finish his dreadful work, goes to Clara, and tells her that a terrible accident befell them. Whilst he and the adventurer are consoling Clara, the faithful Rover comes running home with Paul's handkerchief. Convinced that Paul is not dead, Clara organizes a search party, which is led by Rover to his injured master. Directly the news that Paul is found reaches the adventurer, he hastens away, and thus Clara is left to share her future happiness with Paul, who soon recovers, and the faithful Rover. All Releases
