The Legend of Daphne (1910)
Daphne is a nymph, daughter of the river Ladon and the Earth. Pursued by the ardor of Apollo, she flees. When she is joined by the god, she invokes her father who transforms her into a laurel tree. Apollo makes it his sacred tree.
