The Law of the North (1912)

Dick Benton is secretly in love with Wanda, the pretty daughter of Sandy McCollough. Sandy is a member of the Northwest Mounted Police. Benton is a worthless character and soon begins to neglect Wanda. Later he kills a man in a barroom brawl, and makes his escape. McCollough is sent after Benton. Finally, after a desperate gunfight, in which Sandy's arm is shot, the officer places the handcuffs upon Benton and starts the homeward march. Sandy is forced to rest for the night, and while he is asleep Benton secures the key and unlocks the cuffs that hold him prisoner. He starts to make his second escape, when something inside him, his long dormant manhood, rebels, and he returns to his captor. Finding Sandy still weak from the loss of blood he carries him back to town, and then with her father as witness, he marries Wanda, before marching away to serve the penalty of a misspent and dare-devil life.
