Her Bad Quarter of an Hour (1916)
Lilian awaits at dusk the calling of her sweetheart, Evart, who has said he has a special question to ask. After watching him come up the steps, she opens the hall door and is horrified to see him greeted by her widowed cousin, Milly, who has just announced her intention of getting married again, and disappear within the door of her apartment. Lillian jumps to the conclusion that she has been jilted, and during the next few minutes undergoes keen mental suffering. Shortly afterward Evart knocks at Lillian's door, secures admittance, and to her intense surprise, proposes to her immediately. When she gets her breath, she asks him about Milly, and now understanding her strange actions, Evart laughs heartily, then explains that Milly is to marry a friend of his and had asked him to act as best man. With a happy sigh of relief Lillian comes into Evart's arms.
