A Traitor to Art (1916)
Brenda Adams and Arthur Synott, small town sweethearts, become engaged. She goes to the city, however, to pursue her art studies. Some years pass and she makes but little progress. Blount, an eccentric artist with whom she works, persuades her to pose as Cleopatra. Pancha, who loves him is enraged. Synott, now a minister, seeks Brenda as he has received an excellent call and requires a wife at the city church. They marry and she gives up the Bohemian life. Pancha has seen the painting and is sure Blount is in love with its original. She slashes it to shreds. Brenda, in great fear because her minister husband has decided to visit the exhibition, goes to his studio to destroy the painting. Blount discovers her and the ruined work. He threatens arrest, but offers a way out. She leaves to think it over and Pancha sees her depart. In a jealous fury she kills both Blount and herself.
