The money he squanders on a cabaret singer. The stock fraud is discovered, and Carson protects Dufrane and the singer from a mob which storms his office, until the police rescue him. Helen realizes her waywardness has been responsible, not alone for her father's ruin, but the disaster to her happiness. She divorces Dufrane and marries Carson.
