Unto the Least of These (1916)

Little Helen's father is at work on an invention, which he expects to make him wealthy. He requires funds. The child befriends an old man, a miser, and on his deathbed he sends his accumulation of money to her. With the funds the father develops his invention and attains the wealth he expected. Then neglect by her parents, who have many social obligations, strikes woe into the heart of the child, who finds herself constantly under the guard of a governess, while all her little playmates of the days before the money come continue to enjoy themselves with their childish games. Her parents, as so many others, are unaware of the misery into which they have plunged their little girl by their neglect.
