Via the Fire Escape (1914)
Richard Harding, the son of millionaire Harding, is in love with Aneta Bowen, the society reporter for the Morning Post. The elder Harding has matrimonial views for his son. The papers are all anxious to get a personal interview with Mr. Edward Harding. The Morning Post sends Aneta to his hotel for the required interview. She tries several plans to get in touch with him, but without avail. Finally she takes a room directly above his and watching her opportunity, climbs down the fire-escape into his room. At first he is furious, but realizes he is dealing with no ordinary young lady. He grants her an interview. Aneta, being a wise young lady, decides to procure his consent to her engagement with his son. She manages to involve him in several little compromising situations. Finally to extricate himself he gives the requested consent.
