My Wife's Birthday (1906)
The drunkard's intention in this story is most laudable; he wants to celebrate his wife's birthday and buys her a magnificent pot of flowers. Now it's a matter of bringing it home. Hoever he makes frequent stops at the bars along the way home. The fact remains that at nightfall, he returns home frighteningly drunk, bringing back to his wife the shapeless remains of what was his gift. A volley of well-applied sweeps brings the drunkard back to a sense of reality and it is with this gesture of the outraged wife that this film ends. All Releases
