Charity Rewarded (1909)

In this pretty drama we see a little girl, the daughter of very wealthy people, out walking with her nurse, and as they pass a little barefooted girl leading an old blind street musician the rich child's heart is touched and she hands the little waif some pennies. The nurse and child then continue on, when all at once they are set upon by two ruffians who bind and gag the nursemaid and kidnap the little girl. They take her to a lonely hut, where they have a female accomplice, and put the child in a cellar, intending to keep her there until her father pays them a ransom. The old blind musician and his little girl happen to be passing the hut when their attention is attracted by the sound of a child crying. They are about to investigate, but before they carry out their designs the ruffians appear and find the old man, while the girl escapes. The latter, knowing where to find the parents of the imprisoned child, hastens away to inform the father of his little one's whereabouts, and volunteers to direct him to the spot. They go to the police station and a couple of officers accompany them on their errand. When they arrive at the hut the bandits are taken unawares, and after a desperate resistance they are overpowered and taken away. The barefoot girl directs the man to the door of the chamber where his little one is concealed, and after releasing the blind man he enters and finds his baby. The proud and happy parents decide to take the street urchin into their home to be a sister to their little daughter, and at the same time make ample provision for the future happiness of the poor blind man.
