The Collector of Pearls (1913)

An American dancing girl is mysteriously advertised as "The Pearl of the Orient." J. Pearl Collector, a millionaire gem collector, sees the advertisement and believes that "The Pearl of the Orient" is a real pearl. In order to appease the wrath of his athletic sweetheart, the millionaire orders the pearl sent to his home C.O.D. The manager of "The Pearl of the Orient" receives the message and sees in this mistake a chance to get some free advertising for his dancing star. He puts "The Pearl of the Orient" in a trunk and sends her to the millionaire's home. The collector's sweetheart, Electra, sees the dancer and goes into a rage. The dancing girl, becoming frightened, hides in the millionaire's vault. The pearl's manager and sweetheart, believing that she has been hidden, threaten the collector with death if he does not produce her at a certain hour. Many complications ensue, but eventually the collector's sweetheart understands the situation and effects a satisfactory settlement all around.
