A Bird in the Hand (1911)

It is New Year's Day and Jim and his wife are despondent because they have no turkey for the dinner. Jim promises his wife that he will get a turkey, by fair means or foul, and leaves the house. Unsuccessful in a turkey raffle he decides to pawn his suit, which he sells for five dollars. In the meantime, his wife pawns the other suit and the two find that they have two turkeys, while Jim has no suit. Unbeknownst to Jim the wife gives her turkey to the Salvation Army, while Jim gives his to the janitor. The loss is discovered and the two are in hysterics when a box containing pies and a turkey, arrives from mother. This turkey is nailed to the table, with a rusty musket, parades the room on guard.
