The First Man (1911)
Earl Whitney, a reporter, is assigned to get a story on Miss Mirian Chetwood, who, through the will of her eccentric father, is obliged to seclude herself from the opposite sex until she is of age. Whitney finds the house and gets a glimpse of the girl. He is soon chased from the premises by one of the old maid aunts who guard the girl. In running away an accident befalls him. He is brought into the house and locked in a room. Finally he succeeds in getting into a conversation with the girl who tells of her father's will. Whitney soon learns that the age for a girl to marry is 18 and not 21, as he supposed, and after being told by Mirian that she is eighteen, he declares his love for her to the two aunts, who regretfully grant it.All Releases
