The Cat and the Bonnet (1913)

Mrs. Brown wishes a new hat but her husband cannot see it. He is further infuriated when his wife undertakes the care of her mother's pet cat. Brown hates cats. Disappointed, Mrs. Brown attempts to trim an old hat and, disgusted, tosses the bonnet on the bed. Brown decides to make away with the cat and secretly goes about the house with a burlap bag. In the dim light of the bedroom he sees what he believes to be the obnoxious feline and making a dive with the bag, marches off with the supposed cat. A boy is bribed to loss the bag into the river but the coin given in payment happens to be bad and the accomplice returns to expose Brown's villainy. The result is a new hat for Mrs. Brown.
