The Reformation of Kid Hogan (1912)

Kid Hogan is a claimant for the lightweight championship. His sweetheart, factory girl Nell Simpson, begs him to give up the fight game and settle down to some steady business, but Hogan indignantly refuses and continues in his way. He has a big fight on hand and wins $200. Full of pride he bursts into Nell's room to find her weeping over the body of her mother, which lies dead upon the bed. The situation is too strained and the poor girl, in a towering rage, orders Hogan from the house. The next day he gets drunk and keeps it up as long as the $200 lasts. One night he mixes in the crowd listening to the Salvation Army. His bleary eyes can scarcely recognize the faces in the semi-darkness, but one girl impresses him and he pleads for help. It is his old sweetheart, now Captain Nell Simpson. She takes him in hand and soon brings about the reformation of Kid Hogan.
