Poor Peter Pious (1917)

Father will not allow Eddie to marry Edith, but has reserved her for the son of his old friend, who is a missionary. Eddie goes to the station and meets Peter Pious, the missionary, to take him to Edith's. He takes him to his own place instead, and when Peter goes to take a bath, Eddie steals his clothes and goes to Edith's disguised. He telephones the hospital that there is an insane man in the bathroom. At the Gambles, Eddie, as the missionary, disgusts the old people and their guests by drinking and smoking. Peter Pious escapes from the ambulance, and the attendants chase him down the street. He finally arrives at the Gambles, and comes through the window. Eddie is exposed, but is forgiven when Peter says that he has a wife and five children.
