A Mexican Love Affair (1910)
Jealousy! Jealousy! The word bristles with entanglements, estrangements and ofttimes disaster. Marta and Manuel are alleged sweethearts, while Marietta and Jose have cast their lots together. It is at a fete that Manuel asks Marietta to dance with him, which she does. Marta accepts Jose's proposition that they do likewise, but she is horribly jealous, and this feeling is fanned, rather than quieted, by seeing Manuel flirting with Marietta. Marta suggests a walk to Marietta and they leave the Mexicans to their own devices. When the girls get near the ocean, Marta's jealousy escapes its bounds and goes tumbling into the water. Marta watches her struggling and is overcome with grief at her unintentional act. She hastens to find Jose and Manuel and finally locates them dancing with other girls. When she relates the event they all rush to Marietta's aid. She is about exhausted when they get back. Jose loses no time in jumping to her rescue, while the others excitedly watch them from the shore. Jose swims through the breakers with Marietta and carries her back to the fete, while Manuel supports Marta, who is suffering from the effect of her jealous rage. Marietta revives, forgives Marta, each take and keep their own sweetheart and the fete resumes in joyous tumult. All Releases
