The Promise Land (1916)
David Hunter is a bashful suitor for the hand of Margaret Jamison, Charlie Griswold, a young traveling salesman, comes to the little town and promptly wins the girl's affections. She elopes with him. Some years pass and David, the drug clerk, has become Dr. Hunter, the surgeon. The Griswolds live in the same city. Charlie has taken up gambling and drinking and Margaret and her baby are destitute. The baby becomes ill and Hunter is called. He saves its life and there is mutual recognition between its mother and himself. Charlie, who has deserted the family, is killed in a train wreck. David Hunter shows Margaret that the promise land is their little home rather than the city and they return together.All Releases
