A False Suspicion (1911)

A spendthrift wife is rebuked by her husband for her extravagance, but despite his entreaties to pay less for her gowns, the mania for dress is irresistible and he is finally compelled to tell her that he will no longer be responsible for her debts. She is besieged by creditors and after failing to borrow money without her husband finding it out, she appeals to a gentleman friend of the family. He loans her the money and later, her husband finding receipts signed by his friend, demands an explanation from his wife, whom he unjustly suspects of too close an intimacy with the friend. Matters, however, are happily adjusted and the wife promises never to be extravagant again.
