Their Cheap Vacation (1914)

The Newlyweds read in the newspaper of an ideal automobile trip which only costs $12. Mr. Newlywed decides to take a few days' vacation and enjoy the outdoor air, not feeling that he can afford a more expensive vacation. They pack a camper's outfit on the car and start out. First a farmer demands that they pay $10 for ruining his grass with a fire. Next they are arrested for speeding and fined $15. At last they find an ideal spot, but no more than get their tent set up when a farmer comes along and tells them to come across with $10 or get out. They give up the money. That night they are visited by a huge snake, and then comes the mosquito family. They try to smoke the pests out and set fire to the tent. They flee outside and find themselves in a rain storm, so are forced to retire to a farm house where the children have the mumps. After spending the night there they start for home. The car breaks down and the repair bill is $75. They wind up by both catching the mumps.
