Baseball's Peerless Leader (1913)

Frank Chance proves himself to be an actor of much merit. Phil Norwood is a rabid "fan" with a charming daughter, whom he wishes to marry to an Italian Count, but the girl has a mind of her own and refuses to consent. She takes a motorboat out alone and is wrecked on the rocks. Soaked to the skin and shivering, she makes her way to a bungalow and finds no one at home. The house belongs to Chance, who comes home and finds her asleep before the fire. The telephone being out of order, they cannot communicate with her frantic parents. Hours later her father learns her whereabouts, and enraged at her escapade, punishes her by sending her to her grandparents, who keep her a prisoner. She writes to Chance, asking him to rescue her. He leaves an important game to do so and she escapes with him, disguised in the baseball suit of the mascot. Chance wins the game and the girl is forgiven by her father in his great joy at the victory.
