Love's Quarantine (1913)

Cutey's sweetheart Dot's father forbids him to ever speak to her again. While reading in the paper of a family quarantined by smallpox, Cutey has a brilliant idea: he tells the cook that she is to be afflicted suddenly with a serious illness while bringing his dinner that night; that Dot is to run for him, who will be disguised as a doctor, and that when he comes he will pronounce the case as smallpox and, in accordance with medical laws, he will inform the authorities--two of his friends dressed as police officers--who will order the house quarantined. His scheme is carried out to the letter and progresses splendidly until Dot's papa and mama, sitting by the drawing-room window, overhear the two "policemen" talking about the scheme. Papa rushes up to the room where he finds the "sick" cook drinking and Cutey and Dot "mushing." He throws Cutey out of the window and he lands on his friends' heads. Dot starts to cry, knowing it will be a long time before she can see Cutey again.
