Modest Glasha Novikova sent to Moscow to the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition. Here she meets with Dagestan shepherd Musaib Gatuevym. In parting, Glasha and Musaib promise to write to each other and meet at the show next year. But on their way to the groom gets Kuzma, also in love with Glasha.
