The Wheels of Justice (1915)

Ralph Brooks, although engaged to Julia Dean, meets and becomes infatuated with Rita Reynolds. She gains his sympathy by telling untrue stories of her husband's brutality. They plan to run away together but while Rita is taking a large sum of money from her husband's safe, he returns early from a business trip and a fight ensues which results in her husband's death. "Red" Hall, a burglar is a witness and he extorts the money from Rita. Then Ralph enters. realizes what is happening and makes the mistake of telling Rita he is no longer infatuated with her. She reacts by covering him with a revolver, and telephones the police, and Ralph soon finds himself in prison. Meanwhile, "Red" Hall is forcing Rita to give masquerade balls so he can rob her friends. Ralph, with the help of a convict pal. "Tug" Riley, escapes from prison and has a plan to prove Rita was the party to killed her husband.
