WB Shifts 'Godzilla' and DC Release Dates & Sets Fourth Untitled 'Event' Film
Warner Bros. has updated their release schedule, adjusting the previous date for Godzilla 2 as well as setting a release date for Godzilla vs. Kong. Additionally, one of their Untitled DC Films (presumed to be Green Lantern Corps) has moved back a month while they've adding yet another untitled Event Film. Prepare to adjust your calendars accordingly.

First off, Godzilla 2 has moved from its previous June 8, 2018 release, where it would have faced off against Transformers 6, and moved to March 22, 2019. The March 2019 date arrives two weeks after Marvel's Captain Marvel and is currently shared with Paramount's Amusement Park.

The studio's mashup of Godzilla vs. Kong was previously set for an undisclosed 2020 release date, but has now been confirmed for May 29, 2020, a date the film currently occupies all on its own.

The two films will come on the heels of 2014's Godzilla, which opened in mid-May and grossed over $529 million worldwide, and the upcoming Kong: Skull Island, which is slated for a March 10, 2017 release from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

Warner also shuffled the release date for one of their untitled 2020 DC features, a film believed to be Green Lantern Corps. The previously set June 19, 2020 date is out as it moves back one month to July 24, 2020. The previous date was set opposite an as-yet untitled Pixar film, while the new date is currently theirs alone, two weeks after a currently untitled Marvel release.

The last note on WB's updated schedule finds the studio scheduling a fourth untitled "event" film, this one slated for December 25, 2018, shared with an as-yet untitled Disney live action feature. The studio's three other "event" films are slated for release on August 11, 2017, October 6, 2017 and March 2, 2018.

Additional release date updates include confirmation that Broad Green will partner with Amazon Studios for the theatrical release of Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon. The film will have its premiere shortly at the Cannes Film Festival followed by a June 24 domestic release.

Lionsgate recently dated Adam Wingard's The Woods for a September 16, 2016 release, shifting Nerve, which previously held that date, up to a July 27 release.

Open Road dated Sleepless for a February 24, 2017 release opposite Bad Robot's God Particle and a currently untitled Blumhouse horror project.

Finally, Universal shifted the Pitch Perfect 3 release date from August 4, 2017 back two weeks to July 21, 2017. The previous release date would have had it facing off against Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant and Blazing Samurai, while the new release pits it opposite Christopher Nolan's World War II feature Dunkirk, Fox's animated The Story of Ferdinand and Luc Besson's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
