'Minority Report' Runs Past Century Mark
Minority Report continues to capture moviegoers in its third week of release. On Tuesday, it brought in $1,575,213, propelling its total to $100,158,794 in just 19 days.

The Steve Spielberg sci-fi thriller starring Tom Cruise stands as the seventh picture of the year to cross the $100 million mark, a milestone that 253 movies in total have reached.

On Wednesday, Minority added another $1,432,000 to raise its total to $101,591,000, eclipsing the $100,618,344 gross of Cruise's last picture Vanilla Sky.

Cruise has now starred in 10 $100 million movies, tying Harrison Ford as having the most under his belt among the pantheon of top stars. Any tiebreaker would have to go to Cruise, though, as it is kind of a stretch to call Ford the star of the Star Wars trilogy. Cruise was the above-the-title billed star of all his $100 million hits.

Minority also marks the 11th $100 million movie for Spielberg, reaffirming his status as the most commercially successful director ever.

The trajectory for the $102 million production—which offset much of its cost through product placements from Lexus, Nokia and USA Today among others—points to a final tally of around $140 million, which would make it the highest grossing movie based on a Philip K. Dick story, topping Total Recall's $119,394,839.

Men in Black II joined the $100 million club as well this week. On Wednesday, it grabbed $4,910,884, lifting its total to $103,920,016 in eight days. The first Men in Black also took eight days to reach the mark, but did it when ticket prices were 20% lower than they are today.
