<CENTER></CENTER>
Who: Director Garry Marshall
What: Hollywood's Master Storytellers presents "The Princess Diaries"
When: Tuesday, August 3, 7:30 PM
Where: ArcLight Cinemas Hollywood, 6360 Sunset Blvd. at Vine, Hollywood
Why: He's the man who turned Tony Randall and Jack Klugman into "The Odd Couple;" introduced the world to The Fonz and Mork from Ork, making stars out of Henry Winkler and Robin Williams; gave Julia Roberts her first starring role in Pretty Woman; and turned a gawky teen into a regal princess with the help of a screen legend. He's director Garry Marshall, the man who created and produced some of the most successful sitcoms of the 1970's (The Odd Couple, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy) before turning his considerable talents to directing movies with such hits as Beaches, Runaway Bride, Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries.
With The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement scheduled to open in theatres nationwide on August 11, Hollywood's Master Storytellers will give audiences an opportunity to revisit the original hit movie on Tuesday, August 3, followed by a rare public appearance by Marshall in a live Q&A session moderated by veteran entertainment reporter Dennis Michael.
Garry Marshall is the recipient of the 1990 American Comedy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, the 1992 Publicists Guild Motion Picture Showmanship Award and the 1995 Valentine Davies Award from the Writer's Guild of America. In 1997 he was inducted into the Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences' Hall of Fame, and in 1998 he was honored with the Producer's Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in television. He is also one of the funniest and most interesting raconteurs in Hollywood. This is a rare opportunity to hear him candid and live in what promises to be one HMS's most entertaining evenings of the year.
Twice a month, Hollywood's Master Storytellers showcases the motion picture industry's most fascinating Storytellers at ArcLight Cinemas Hollywood. Since its launch in January 2003, HMS has been host to such luminaries as Academy Award winning writer/director James Cameron, Academy Award winning writer and international best-selling author Sidney Sheldon, actor/producer Pierce Brosnan, director Richard Donner and actor/producer/director George Clooney.
