Critically-Acclaimed Film's Estimated Second Weekend Take is $22 Million for the Holiday Weekend on 1725 Screens; Film's Cumulative Take Reaches $61.1 Million;

Outgrosses "Spider Man 2" in Thirty Theaters

SANTA MONICA, CA, and NEW YORK, NY, July 6, 2004 – "Fahrenheit 9/11", continued to be a major box-office success story, finishing the Independence Day holiday weekend with a cumulative take of $22 million on 1725 screens, bringing its 11 day total to $61.1 million, it was announced by Tom Ortenberg, President of Lions Gate Films Releasing, and Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Entertainment.

"This continues to be stunning and has now become part of the American conversation. And its just growing and growing and growing," commented Fellowship Adventure Group's Harvey and Bob Weinstein.

"America has clearly demonstrated their love for this film and the numbers prove it. We are ecstatic about how the film has held in its second weekend, and are extremely proud to be behind this summer's true box-office success story," said Ortenberg.

Additional box-office records, milestones and key figures set by the film over the holiday weekend are the following:

*Awareness for the film going into its second weekend was up to 86%, based on an NRG survey of 400 moviegoers on Wednesday, June 30

Among the numerous records already set by FAHRENHEIT 9/11 are the following:

*Highest opening weekend ever for a documentary of any type (including IMAX and concert films) *Highest opening ever for a wide release under 1000 screens (beating previous record holder "Rocky III" in 1982) *Highest opening ever for a Palme d'Or winner (topping previous record holder "Pulp Fiction" in 1994) *Opening weekend numbers have already outgrossed the total domestic box office for Academy Award® winner "Bowling for Columbine", Michael Moore's previous release, which was in theatrical release for nine months

*Achieved 3rd highest per screen average opening for the year to date among wide releases (behind only "Passion of the Christ" & "Shrek 2")

* Film achieved a final $27,558 per screen average on 868 screens * First film under 1000 screens to take the #1 weekend box office spot since 1994 (beating previous record holder "Four Weddings and a Funeral") * Exit polls in 13 cities across the country showed 91% rated the film excellent, 93% said they would definitely recommend * Number 7 on all time list of opening weekend per screen averages for all films released wide on opening weekend * Best Saturday to Sunday hold for the year of non-holiday adult film * Film had the best percentage hold from Saturday to Sunday of any non-kids film this year excepting Memorial Day weekend

* Film had the best Sunday-Monday hold of any film in the top 10 * Film's box office on Monday, June 28 was a very strong $4.4 million; Tuesday's take was $3.8 million * Online ticket sales for the film continue to break records, including from key sites including Moviefone/Movietickets.com and Fandango. Monday and Tuesday sales for "Fahrenheit 9/11" on Fandango beat those for "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" during the same period following its opening weekend

* Highest advance online ticket sales for a documentary at over a million dollars and growing

This year's winner of the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, FAHRENHEIT 9/11 is being released by a coalition of companies that includes Bob and Harvey Weinstein's Fellowship Adventure Group, a newly-created special-purpose company; Lions Gate Films (AMEX and TSX: LGF); and IFC Films. Pay TV rights will be handled by Showtime, Lions Gate's Pay TV partner.

FAHRENHEIT 9/11 is Michael Moore's first feature film since BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, which won the 2003 Academy Award® for Best Documentary Feature. FAHRENHEIT 9/11 brought Moore his first Palme d'Or and his second major award from the Cannes Film Festival, following the 55th Anniversary Prize he received at the 2002 Festival. Moore is the first documentary filmmaker in cinema history to be honored twice at Cannes.
