On Tuesday, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 rocketed past the $200 million mark in just five days. The only other movies to hit $200 million in five days were The Dark Knight and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Though its total climbed to a whopping $202.6 million, Deathly Hallows Part 2 didn't break the five-day opening gross record. It fell short of The Dark Knight's $203.8 million five-day haul, ranking second on the all-time five-day chart. Normalized for ticket-price inflation, Deathly Hallows Part 2 would drop to ninth.

Deathly Hallows Part 2's $15.4 million Tuesday was the fifth-highest grossing non-opening Tuesday ever. The Dark Knight still holds that record with $20.9 million, though both movies had Monday-to-Tuesday drops of around 15 percent.

As a franchise, Harry Potter has generated $2.211 billion, and, on Wednesday, it should edge out Star Wars's $2.218 billion to become the top-grossing franchise of all time (despite trailing by a massive margin in terms of estimated attendance).

At the foreign box office, Deathly Hallows Part 2 raked in a spectacular $34 million on Tuesday, lifting its total to $390 million. Factor in its domestic results, and the movie had a $49.3 million Tuesday worldwide for a $592.6 million worldwide total. It leap-frogged over Kung Fu Panda 2 and The Hangover Part II to become the fourth highest-grossing movie of 2011 so far, and it will surpass Fast Five on Wednesday.
