Shutter Island's worldwide gross has reached $294 million, making it the top-grossing picture of director Martin Scorsese's career. Mr. Scorsese's previous high was his last feature, The Departed, which made $290 million.

The split for Shutter Island is $127.3 million domestic and $166.5 million overseas. Domestically, The Departed remains Mr. Scorsese's highest-grossing movie with $132.4 million, and Shutter Island is not going to catch it on that front, even though it has made more in its first 13 weeks than Departed did. That's because Shutter Island's run is winding down, whereas Departed received a nationwide re-launch late in its run to capitalize on Oscar nominations.

Shutter Island's advantage over The Departed is in its foreign haul, garnering $8 million more thus far than Departed's $157.5 million. Shutter Island marks Mr. Scorsese's fourth feature in a row to gross more than $100 million overseas, following Departed, The Aviator and Gangs of New York. All four pictures starred the internationally popular Leonardo DiCaprio.

For 2010, Shutter Island currently stands as the fifth highest-grossing picture worldwide.
