COMPARISONS: "A New Day Has Come" marks the first time that Celine Dion has debuted at No. 1, and sets a new personal best first-week sales figure for the French Canadian diva, topping her previous high of 340,000. R&B singer Avant's first album "My Thoughts" peaked at No. 45 in 2000 and has sold 955,000 copies to date.

OTHER DEBUTS: Christian act Newsboys's "Thrive" landed at No. 38 on sales of 37,000, while all-star heavy metal group Down's second disc bowed at No. 44, selling 31,000. Another metal band Hatebreed debuted at No. 69, moving 22,000 units. 

SECOND-WEEK SLUMP: Glenn Lewis' "World Outside My Window" tumbled 26 spots from its No. 4 bow last week to No. 30 as sales were off 46% to 46,000 for a two-week total of 131,000.
